Step-by-step instructions for activating Biometric and Two-Step Login
General Overview
Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin health network is dedicated to protecting your online account and health information. We offer three ways you can add security to your online account from the Froedtert & MCW mobile app.
Security options offered through the Froedtert & MCW mobile app:
- Biometric Verification (face or fingerprint id)
- Passcode Authentication (4-digit code)
- Two-Step Login (two-factor authentication)
Biometric Verification
What is Biometric Verification?
- Biometric characteristics are the physical and biological features unique to every individual, such as fingerprint and facial recognition. These are saved on your device and can be easily compared to the user attempting to access data or device.
- Biometric authentication is a security feature that matches the biometric features of a user accessing a device or online account. Access is granted only when a match occurs.
How to Setup up Biometric Verification?
- Login to your Froedtert & MCW app using your username and password
- Go to Profile
- Under Account Settings, tap Login Security
- Tap the toggle button (to the right)
- Tap Set up biometrics
- When prompted to allow the app to use Face or Touch ID, tap OK
- Next time you log in, you will be asked to log in using biometrics or your password, select Log in using biometrics
How to Delete Biometric Verification?
- Log into your Froedtert & MCW app
- Go to Profile
- Under Account Settings, tap Login Security
- Tap Delete your biometrics
- Then, tap Delete biometrics
Passcode Login
What is Passcode Login?
Passcode login allows you to replace logging in using your username and password with a custom, 4-digit passcode of your choice.
How to Set-up Passcode Login?
- Login to your Froedtert & MCW app
- Go to Profile
- Under Account Settings, tap Login Security
- Tap the toggle on button (to the right)
- Follow prompts to complete setup
How to Update/Delete Passcode Login?
- Log into your Froedtert &MCW app
- Go to Profile
- Under Account Settings, tap Login Security
- Tap either Update your passcode or Delete your passcode
- When updating or deleting passcode verification, you will need to enter the current passcode for verification
- Follow prompts to update or delete passcode login
Two-Step Login/Two-Factor Authentication
What is Two-Step Login?
Two-step login, also known as two-factor authentication (2FA), is a security method that uses two forms of identification to safeguard personal information. A text message will be sent to your mobile number containing a one-time passcode that must be entered prior to gaining access.
Two-Step Login and Froedtert & MCW App
Two-step log in can only be set up and deleted from the Froedtert & MCW mobile app. Once enabled, you will be prompted to complete the two-step log in if you:
- Log into your account on the web
- Log in on a new device
- If you completely logged out of the app on your device
Why Use Two-Step Login (2FA)?
With Two-Step login set-up, if your password is stolen or your phone is lost, it reduces the chances of someone else gaining access to your account.
How to Setup Two-Step Login?
- Login to your Froedtert & MCW app
- Go to Profile
- Under Account Settings, tap Login Security
- Tap Set up your two-step login
- Enter your current Froedtert & MCW account password and tap Confirm Password
- Confirm or edit your mobile phone number and tap Use this phone number
- Enter 6 digit code, that was sent via text to your mobile device, tap Verify code
- You are all set! Tap Back to settings
How to Delete Two-Step Login Settings:
- Log into your Froedtert &MCW app
- Go to Profile
- Under Account Settings, tap Login Security
- Tap **Delete your two-step login **
- Enter your password and tap Confirm password
- Then, tap Delete Two-Step Login
