What is Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication (2FA), also known as two-step login, is a security measure that uses two forms of identification to safeguard personal information. A text message will be sent to your mobile phone number containing a one-time passcode that must be entered prior to gaining access to your Froedtert & MCW and MyChart account.

Why Enable Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) provides an extra layer of security to your Froedtert & MCW app and MyChart account by requiring both something you know (your password) and something you have (your mobile device) to verify your identity. This authentication method helps protect your personal health data from unauthorized access. Even if your password is compromised, your account will remain secure.

How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication Via the Froedtert & MCW App:

  1. Log in to your Froedtert & MCW app

  2. Go to Account (bottom right)

  3. Tap Security

  4. Tap Set up your two-step login

  5. Enter your current Froedtert & MCW account password and tap Confirm Password

  6. Confirm or enter your mobile phone number and tap Use this phone number

  7. Enter the 6-digit code that will be sent via text to your mobile device and tap Verify

  8. You're all set! Tap Back to settings

How to Disable Two-Factor Authentication Via Froedtert & MCW App:

  1. Log in to your Froedtert & MCW app

  2. Go to Account (bottom right)

  3. Tap Security

  4. Tap Disable your two-step login

  5. Enter your password and tap Confirm Password

  6. Tap Disable Two-Step Login

 

How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication Via MyChart:

  1. Log in to your Froedtert & MCW account via the MyChart app or web browser

  2. Go to Menu (top left)

  3. Scroll to bottom and select Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

  4. Select Login

  5. Select Enable

  6. Enter your mobile phone number and select Continue

  7. Enter the 6-digit code that will be sent via text to your mobile device and select Confirm

  8. On the confirmation screen, press Continue

  9. You're all set! Tap Go to MyChart

How to Disable Two-Factor Authentication Via MyChart:

  1. Log in to your Froedtert & MCW account via MyChart app or web browser

  2. Go to Menu (top left)

  3. Scroll to bottom and select Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

  4. Press Disable

  5. Press Disable 2FA

  6. Enter the 6-digit code that will be sent via text to your mobile device and select Confirm

  7. When notified that two-factor authentication has been removed, select Done
